Start Up Writing Articles

Writing articles to some may seem like a hurricane task but if you are determined and focused everything is easy. Thousands of people write articles for magazines, newspapers, websites, and blogs and even in classrooms for their teachers. Most of these people follow a simple technique which involves researching their topic and taking several notes.

Putting this concept to use requires you to determine first what your article is going to be all about. If you don’t have a clear idea about what you are going to write on, then carry out a suggestion session to choose a topic and gather some ideas on it.

The next factor which you need to focus upon is the readers of your article. This will decide the way you need to present your article. Say you are doing a piece of writing on “creating a PowerPoint presentation”. If this article is going to be for the business people, then you need to detail more on a lot of advanced features available in PowerPoint. If your readers are small school children you can stop with the basic procedure for creating a presentation.

Before you start to write down the article, analyze how much of research work is needed on it. If you know the topic too well, then probably you can start writing after doing some research. If you are completely unaware of the topic, then browse through the topic, get a clear understanding of it and then start your work. It is better you dedicate sufficient time on researching about the topic since this will enable you to write with a flow of ideas rather than searching for points every five minutes. Another thing you need to focus on is the length of your piece of writing. If you are required to submit an assignment to your teacher, then he/she would have already instructed you to write for a specified no. of words. Once you get to know how long your article should be, then frame the introduction, content and the conclusion of the article accordingly.

Another important aspect before you start writing your article is to determine the length of your article. If your article is an assignment from your teacher then your teacher would already have set the guideline as to the number of words in your article. Once you are sure about how long your article will be then make sure that your introduction, body and conclusion are proportionate. Once you start writing make sure you use all the resources that are available to you to make your article interesting. Many people today use the internet for their entire article but make sure that you go to reliable websites and also avoid plagiarism. You can also use newspapers, magazines and books to research your topic and add references if required. It is usually a good idea to put a list of all your references at the end of your article so your reader knows the source of your information and can double check the information if they have any doubts or questions.

Finally, make sure you review your article as many times as possible. Every good book author always passes their books through editors who check and edit their books. Even though you may have a good command over your language it is always possible that there may be some spelling or grammatical errors in your articles. Also, re-reading your article allows you to make changes in the way you put your point across and improve your article for all your readers.
